History of the Ramassà

Our history, from 1975 to today

Born as a football supporters’ club in the Pla del Ramassà in the mid-seventies, the club has grown from local tournaments and town festivals to federated football, and today it is also a social organization that uses sport to promote inclusion and gender equality.

Origins (1975-1979)

  • 1975 Start of the Ramassà Sports Association as a neighborhood project in Les Franqueses.
  • 1976 Competitive debut in the Spring Championship of Supporters’ Clubs (later the Vallès County Championship), promoted by a group of friends from the Pla del Ramassà
  • 1976 Festa Major match in El Lledoner: U.D. Lledoner 2 – Ramassà 3 and a trophy presented by Auto-Radio Dantí.

The eighties

  • 1982 Ramassà finishes 5th in the 1st Vallès County tournament; two club players, Isidro Cano and Jerónimo Garrido, are selected for the tournament’s all-star team.
  • 1983 Recognition for Best Sportsmanship in the championship; the article highlights the team’s amateur, self-managed spirit and notes 190 matches played up to that point (443 GF / 436 GA).
  • 1989 In an incident at the Companies Championship, Ramassà players and staff protect the referee from an assault; the episode makes the news as an example of fair play.

The nineties and 2000s

  • 1995 Celebration of the 20th anniversary with a friendly match in Llerona against a TV3 select team
  • 2000 25th anniversary of Penya Esportiva Ramassà
  • 2003 Entry into federated competition (5th Catalan division) and subsequent consolidation in the 4th Catalan division. The recent record shows steady progress up to 3rd-place finishes in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

2010s – today: football and social impact

  • Since 2014 Stability in the Fourth Catalan division and growth of the club’s social project in the area.
  • 2019 Second crest redesign
  • 2019-2024 Trips and cooperation projects in Africa (Kenya, etc.) with friendly matches and educational activities; in 2024, the eighth trip takes place and the docufilm SOKA is premiered.
  • Late 2022 The club joins Football for the Goals (United Nations) and Common Goal, strengthening its commitment to the SDGs.
  • 2024 Launch of inclusive women’s football for asylum seekers and refugees in Barcelona, with training sessions, friendlies, and partnerships.

This year we’ve been fortunate to be selected to take part in Relats Solidaris.

In 2025, the project is sponsored by the best player in the world, European and world champion Aitana Bonmatí (FC Barcelona), with whom we already had the chance to collaborate on our project “Inclusive women’s football for asylum seekers, refugees, and newcomers in Barcelona: training and socio-labour inclusion”.

At the presentation event on 22 April 2025 at the Antigua Fàbrica d’Estrella Damm in Barcelona, where this collaboration was announced in front of a large audience, we also took the opportunity to unveil the new campaign “Football is refuge”, created by Biombö Studio.
